Carl has entered the Blue September Placemakers 600m sea swim on 29th September. This event is to raise money for prostate cancer awareness and support for men with the disease. The swim is at 10am from the Nelson Yacht Club.

We have a bumper crop of spring flowers in the garden right now, so decided to share the excess by making our delightful pocket posies and giving them to Nelson Hospice and Manuka Street Hospital and some of the local Nelson Rest Homes for the residents, staff and patients to enjoy.
Tulips in the garden are growing quickly now the temperatures are warming up outside, and the buds are showing the bright colours of the flowers. I did a little test on the bulbs I planted this year; half I planted straight into the garden in early April; the other half I put in the bottom of the fridge for a month before planting them in the garden.
The bulbs that went into the fridge are flowering first.

Well the rainwater tank is certainly well topped up this month; With all the rain the ground is certainly wet, and we in Nelson are asking where is our sun?
We have manged to plant a few due Dahlia and Gladi in the garden with more to plant when we get some fine days.

Always amazing how in the middle of winter the bulbs are sending up there pretty flowers for us to enjoy. Our Hyacinths have been flowering for some weeks now, and continue to provide us with beautiful scented flowers in a range of colours to use in your short stem posies, and box arrangements. Enjoy……..
