Flowers are ordered from the wholesaler ; The soft toys for Valentines day have arrived; the boxes of Lindt chocolates are being wrapped in cello and bows being made to put on them. We have received order sheets from the flower wholesalers to order our roses for Valentines Day; 14th February is only four weeks away. So we are getting ready for our biggest day of the year for flowers in Nelson.

We were surprised to learn from nurses, that other florists deliver their flowers to hospital reception only, and the flowers can sit there for a long time before the hospital staff have the time available to deliver the flowers to the patient.

Funeral Tribute for musician

This week we had an interesting funeral tribute to make for a family, this entitled incorporating the deceased’s trumpet in with the flowers to sit on top of the casket.

The trumpet needed to be secure so that it did not wobble or tip when the casket was being moved. I always enjoy these challenges; one never knows each day as a florist what will be coming.

Christmas lilies

Growers are reporting that the traditional Christmas lily, Lilium regale is still in supply at the moment

I know ours in the gardens here have all finished; but we are still sourcing them from growers at present.

Lilium longiflorum will be available right through Christmas , so will be able to be substituted if the Lilium regale supply does run out.
